Patteh Embroidered Jewellery Workshop with Mitra Freeman (Sunday 11.05.25)

£15.00

Join Mitra for a workshop embroidering felt earrings and hairclips in the traditions of Iranian Patteh. Using traditional stitching techniques learnt from her grandmother in Iran, Mitra Freeman will show you how to create either a set of earrings or a brooch, taking sunshine and Spring flowers as inspiration for the designs.

Traditional Patteh is embroidered on handwoven red woollen fabric and has a set colour pallet of yellows, white, black, purples and blues. It holds ancient symbols like the Botteh Jegheh, a traditional motif originating in Iran and based on the Cypress tree or "Sarv". This long and slender tree looks to be reaching towards heaven, so it has come to represent the connection between the earth and the holy unknown.
The workshop will take place on Sunday 11.05.25 from 10am to 1pm @ Cardiff M.A.D.E. Materials and Refreshments all included in the ticket price.
